Going into a refill shop can be daunting if you’re not sure how things work. You might think your nearest supermarket is going to be easier. But you’ll soon realise how simple it is to stock up at your local no waste shop. And at 109 our friendly staff are always on hand to help!
Step 1: Bring in your clean, empty containers (and have an idea what you want to put in them!) We have some some containers you can buy. We often also have a stock of donated used, cleaned, jars and tubs you can just take and re-use.
Step 2: We can weigh your containers for you before they get filled with loveliness. If you are refilling cleaning products, it’s best to keep the labels on. For beauty and cleaning refills it’s helpful for us if the volume is visible - but not the end of the world if it isn’t.
Step 3: If it’s fresh dairy milk you’re after - you are welcome to serve yourself (or shout if you need help). For liquid cleaning or beauty refills (from washing up liquid or rinse aid, through to shampoo or bodywash, and everything in between), we have pump pots which you can get pumping away on with our blessing (great upper arm workout) . For coffee beans, teas, dried foods ,pastas, herbs, oils ,vinegars, spices and the stickier condiments - we have a great Dark Amber 100% Maple syrup refill, yum - the gang will be more than happy to weigh, grind, scoop, pour and squirt the goods into your jars, bottles, bags and tubs for you.
Step 4: Present yourself at the front counter where the till is situated and be amazed at how little the refills have cost you - whilst you’ve helped minimise the cost to the planet. Win - Win.
Step 5: Let us know how we’ve done, what we could do to make your experience better and if there’s anything you needed that we didn’t have. We are always open to kindly given feedback and great suggestions. We believe in the hive mind.
